Experience · From the air
An hour over the plains at dawn, then a champagne breakfast where you land.
Before you book it
Is it for you
This suits you if: Anyone who wants one unforgettable morning above the Serengeti, and does not mind a pre-dawn start. A classic honeymoon and special-occasion splurge, added to a wider safari.
You might prefer something else if: Very young children (minimum age is 7), anyone who would rather not rise at 4am, and travellers on a tight budget — the balloon is a luxury on top of the safari, not a substitute for a game drive.
Timing
Flights run year-round from the central Serengeti near Seronera, with seasonal launch sites elsewhere as the herds move.
The ideal window: settled weather, and the migration often visible below in the western and northern Serengeti.
Flights over the Ndutu area in the south, above the calving herds.
The rhythm
A very early start: pickup from your camp between roughly 4:30 and 5:15am, a short drive to the launch site in the dark, and lift-off around dawn. The flight lasts about an hour, drifting low over the plains and rising for the wider view. You land to a bush breakfast and a champagne toast, then rejoin your guide for the drive back.
The journeys
Any itinerary with a night in the central Serengeti can carry a balloon morning.

Honestly
The balloon flies weather permitting. Cancellations are rare but do happen in strong wind or heavy rain, and are refunded — so it is worth booking for early in your Serengeti stay, leaving a spare morning in case. Passengers need to be reasonably mobile; there is a weight consideration per seat, which we handle discreetly when booking.
