Experience · Fly-in
Light aircraft instead of long drives, for people whose time is shorter than their ambition.
What flying buys
Is it for you
This suits you if: Travellers short on time who want to skip the long drives, and anyone reaching for the remote corners of the country. If you have under a week, flying can save your itinerary from collapsing under its own ambition.
You might prefer something else if: Those with a couple of unhurried weeks who enjoy the landscapes and villages between parks — and anyone who wants to pack heavy. Light aircraft mean strict, soft-bag luggage limits.
Timing
Flights operate year-round on established routes; the wildlife and season considerations are the same as any safari.
The advantage of flying is time, not timing. It comes into its own for short trips and for reaching remote southern and western parks that are slow to reach by road.
The rhythm
Light aircraft between airstrips replace the long transfer drives, so more of your day is spent on game drives and less on the road. You are met at each airstrip and driven into camp. Luggage is limited — typically around 15kg in soft bags — so pack light and leave the hard case at home.
The journeys
Both of these use light aircraft to skip the transfer days.

Honestly
Flying buys you time and access, not different wildlife — the animals are the same whether you arrive by road or air. The honest trade-off is that you skip the landscapes, villages and sense of scale you get on a drive, and you accept the luggage limit. For many trips the smartest answer is a hybrid: drive the connected northern parks, fly the long legs.
